The Quartz Hill Town Council will conduct its regular monthly meeting on May 15th ,2012   6:30 pm at George Lane Park 55th Street west and Ave. L-8. Gregg Begell Project Manager (L.A. County Public Works) for the Quartz Hill Storm drain Project is the main speaker, The topic of discussion will be the Storm Drain Project as the construction progresses onto 50th Street West into the business district, “how it or will not affect your business” It is important for the business owners of the Quartz Hill Businesses attend and get your questions answered .Gregg will be able to assist with how they plan on directing traffic into the individual businesses.They can use your suggestions to help eliminate potential problems.The Council will also have a brief discussion regarding the L.A.County Health Dept. requiring non commercial livestock operations in the Antelope Valley to be licensed as if it is a commercial operation. This apparently has  been at least temporarily been corrected. Barricaded suspect shot by Sheriff’s
Last night (Saturday night)There was a barricaded suspect in Lake LA with a high-powered rifle wearing Kevlar and had military training.

He was roaming the hill side and sheriff’s couldn’t get close enough to him. They evacuated several homes in the area.

The fool screwed up and snuck down the hill (where he had a tactical advantage)into a storage shed. A Lancaster deputy(s) got a bead on him and shot him. Swat was just getting off the 14 when it happened. The suspect was airlifted to AVH. I don’t know his condition at this minute.

There were a couple shootings and numerous fights and domestic abuse calls last night (Cinco de Mayo).

Yeah, crime is down in the AV King Rex.

Palmdale Sheriff’s Station to Launch an Intensive

Crackdown on DUI Suspects with Outstanding Warrants

 Palmdale, CA – Many who get caught drinking and driving are under the false hope that if they simply avoid the court system, the whole thing might fade away.  Not in the City of Palmdale.

Teams of Palmdale Sheriff’s Station personnel with dozens of outstanding arrest warrants will be fanning out into neighborhoods in search of high risk DUI offenders.  Deputies will be serving these warrants and arresting those who either failed to show-up for a court date or violated the terms of their probation in an outstanding DUI case.

“There are literally hundreds of Palmdale residents with active DUI warrants in the system.  Some of these people are hoping they can put it off for a long time and not have to deal with it” said Palmdale Traffic Sergeant M. Johnston.  “We are letting those offenders know that if they don’t take care of their case by going to court, we’re going to come find them and take them to jail”.

Those caught often face additional jail time for failing to appear in court or for violating probation.  When family, friends, and co-workers find out, violators can also face tremendous personal embarrassment and humiliation as they are lead away in handcuffs.

Special DUI Warrant Service Operations along with regularly scheduled “High Visibility” DUI enforcement programs have a deterrent effect on those who disregard driver safety and abuse alcohol and drugs.  Palmdale Sheriff’s Station personnel place a high priority on lowering deaths and injury with the goal of removing impaired drivers and heightening awareness of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Funding for this program is from a grant from the  California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  Report Drunk Drivers, Call 911!
